Focus on renewable raw materials
Biodiesel is a fuel produced from renewable raw materials such as rape seed oil, sunflower seed oil, soybean oil and also used frying oils (UFO) or animal fats. The production of biodiesel fits in Proviron’s long-term strategy to produce chemical products out of renewable raw materials. The glycerine by-product of the biodiesel production can be further refined to a valuable product for the plastics industry.
Biodiesel project
The total investment for the biodiesel project is lower than comparable projects because Proviron can adapt an existing unit for the production of the biodiesel. The Plassendale site is logistically well situated (immediate access to rail, road, canal and seaport). The production unit can also benefit from the existing sources of low pressure steam. No additional supplies of fossil fuels will be required. Proviron has more than 30 years of experience in the field of esterification technology.
Surplus Values
The production of biodiesel fits in Proviron’s long-term strategy to produce chemical products out of renewable components. Next to biodiesel, a ‘pure’ fuel, Proviron will transform renewable raw materials into durable materials. The glycerine by-product of the biodiesel production can be further refined to a valuable product for the plastics industry.
Proviron also works on the combination of alternative raw materials, biotechnology and new, alternative agricultural practices in order to maximally harvest the solar energy that is stored in plants.
Proviron is an independent chemical production company that will continue to use the traditional chemical raw materials as well as, and increasingly, renewable raw materials and green chemicals.
